Places to visit in Chiquimula



vEsquipulas, where tourists also visit the basilica where the image of the Black Christ, can also make an interesting walk around, where you can visit The Compradres Stone, tour of the old pilgrim path and as buying curios or souvenirs in the market for this place.
vChiquimula, is a city where visitors can visit the church, the market or just relax on park benches, for a pleasant afternoon. Also you can find colonial churches, as the remains of the old church of the Holy Trinity, located east of the city, which collapsed in 1743, although the facade and walls still show some of its former glory.
       
 ž       vMontecristo Small Mountain: It is located at the border with El Salvador and Honduras. Around it the "Friendship Biosphere" is located which has been declared as a Biosphere Reserve. At the top, you can find a humid, fresh, cloudy, and abundant forest with a lot of wild life.


vIpala Volcano and Lagoon: The Ipala volcano is a peculiar one, since it has a lagoon in its crater. The lagoon, of almost 59 hectares of diameter is located at approximately 1,500 m altitude.



vQuetzaltepeque Volcano:  If you climb the top at ca 2000 m, you will be able to enjoy a beautiful  view and scenery.

       v"Cueva de las Minas" Ecological Park private, whose name is derived from the mines that are in place.






vSpa Poza de la Pila, which is a few kilometers from the town, being a place that offers relaxation and recreation, as it is located in a number of water sources and is a place conditioning with barbecues, playgrounds, tennis soccer and swimming possibilities, being able also to perform group activities.
